SPARAVALO, Myroslav K.(New York City, USA)

SPARAVALO, Myroslav K.  - Honorary Professor of the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, Department of Telecommunications. He currently holds Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics (V. M. Glushkov Institute of Cybernetics of National Academy of Science of Ukraine), PhD in Electrical Engineering (Kyiv Engineering College of Air Force, USSR), MS in Aeronautical Engineering (École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Constructions Aéronautiques, Toulouse, France). He is the author of 34 research papers, a monograph and the active participant of prestigious scientific symposiums.

Areas of Expertise: Mathematical Modeling and Simulation, Nonlinear Dynamics, Mathematical Theory of Stability, Control Theory, Numerical Algorithm Design, Flight Dynamics, Guidance and Control.

Scientific Achievements:

  1. Gave the solution to the famous mathematical problem of stability formulated by A. M. Lyapunov in 1892. The solution has sophisticatedly profited from the N. G. Chetaev’s idea of using first integrals of differential equations to construct Lyapunov functions.

  2. Laid down the foundations of Theory of Nonlinear Non-Autonomous Dynamical Systems of Generic Configuration (or without any kind of degeneracies in the form of equilibrium points). using the Henri Poincaré strategy of the investigation of ODEs and manifolds. The term of "generic configuration" means that the extended phase spaces of the systems have nor equilibrium points neither all other kinds of degeneracies or their motions take place in the domains located so "far away" from them that the method of linearization does not work.

  3. Developed Method of Differential-Topological Reduction of Dimensions of Dynamic Systems with Control in the Neighborhood of Attracting Sets Intrinsically Existing in Extended Phase Spaces and Principle of Quasi-Equivalency between Optimal Controls of Original Full-Order and Corresponding Reduced Systems in Identical Optimization Problems.

  4. Created Henri-Poincaré-Strategy-Based Backstepping Method.

  5. Introduced the concept of the wide-sense robustness that takes account of the full or partial loss of control resources in order to make the missions still possible after major damages have been done to the complex dynamic systems with control functioning in the constant presence of detrimental factors and unpredictably affected by the unfavourable changes of the environment with hostile external disturbance.

Honours and Awards:

  1. The Yuri Kondratyuk Award for Development of New Mathematical Technique in Flight Dynamics and Control - Cosmonautics Federation of Ukraine, 2000.

  2. The French Aerospace Industry Award (FASIA) for Remarkable Achievements in Aerospace Sciences and Technology - French Aeronautical and Space Industrial Association (GIFAS), French Aerospace Cooperation Agency, French National Aerospace Academy, 1998.

  3. The Joint Grant of French Aeronautical and Space Industrial Association (GIFAS) and Ministry for Foreign Affairs of France, 1997.

  4. The Yuri Gagarin Award for Innovative Researches in Rocket Dynamics - Cosmonautics Federation of USSR, 1990.

  5. The Laureate of the literary competition “The Best French Short Story” held under the aegis of Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, 1996.
